Know Before You Fly

Cappadocia Balloon Cancellation & Weather

How Weather Decisions Are Made

Hot air balloon flights require calm, stable weather conditions. Every morning, our chief pilot reviews real-time meteorological data — including wind speed and direction at multiple altitudes, visibility, cloud cover, and precipitation forecasts.

The final go/no-go decision is made approximately 1 hour before the scheduled departure. This decision is always made in the interest of passenger safety and cannot be overridden.

The Role of the CAA

Turkey's Civil Aviation Authority (SHGM) oversees all balloon operations in Cappadocia. The CAA may issue a region-wide flight ban when conditions are unsafe. When this happens, no operator in Cappadocia is permitted to fly. Our team monitors CAA communications continuously and will inform you immediately if a ban is issued.

What Happens When Flights Are Cancelled

If your flight is cancelled due to weather, we will notify you as early as possible — typically the evening before or very early the same morning. You will always have two options:

  • Reschedule to the next available day at no extra cost
  • Full refund if you are unable to stay or prefer not to reschedule
